Chapter 6 & 11 responses

Chapter 6 Response:
Based on chapter 6 I would prefer to work in a classroom that has more technology. This is because technology makes it easier not only for students but as well as teachers. In the book it talks of many technologies one being a scanner; and says that if a teacher just wants to modify a test they can scan it on to their computer and just modify it that way instead of rewriting the whole test. Also, for a younger group of students that learn better by doing something technology could really help keep their focus. According to the book touch screens are great when working with younger kids because they are “quick and easy to use.” White boards and data projectors would allow students to see the information better and allows the school to cut down on their printing because they students can just take notes off of that instead of the teaching printing for every single student they have. A classroom with technology would not only make it easier for the teacher but it also would allow the student to stay focused.

Chapter 11 Response:
According to chapter 11 one traditional technology for audio is the audio cassette that would allow the student to listen to a book on tape and make it easier for them to follow along. A merging technology in audio is the Internet radio. The teacher wanting to show their students different music around the world could use the Internet radio in a classroom and due to the Internet radio it is a fast way for a teacher to show their students. Also according to chapter 11 a traditional technology for visual is a bulletin board. A bulletin board could be easily used in a classroom to help display pictures and other graphic arts. This would be valuable in a classroom for a project if someone needed to hang a poster or just if someone wanted to get information out they could hang a paper. A merging technology in visual teaching is the use of YouTube. YouTube has many irrelevant videos on it for a classroom but it also has many videos that teachers and students could use in the classroom to show in a teaching or presentation. YouTube according to the book “offers fresh and current video on any number of topics.
